From SEX BOOSTER to LIFE BREAKER: The Truth About TRAMADOL
Spread the love

All across Ghana, something dangerous is happening quietly, yet in plain sight. Tramadol, a painkiller meant for serious medical conditions, is now a popular street drug. And its grip on the youth is spreading fast.

But it’s not being sold as a dangerous substance. It’s being passed around as a secret weapon for energy, for endurance, and especially, for sex. Many young men take it thinking it will boost their performance. They don’t see it as a drug. They see it as help. That’s the trap.

What makes it worse is how easily available it is. On campuses, in hostels, on the streets, even in bars Tramadol is now part of daily conversation. In some areas, people talk about it like it’s just a stronger version of paracetamol.

But it’s not.

In certain bars, things go even further. Some bartenders are mixing Tramadol or ecstasy pills into cocktails. These drinks are made to trigger instant sexual excitement. The result? A dangerous chemical high that leads straight into addiction. What starts as fun quickly turns into dependence and damage.

The numbers tell us this isn’t a small problem. In some studies, nearly 1 in 4 commercial drivers in Accra have used Tramadol. Among young people in other parts of the country, the numbers are even higher. Many say they first took it to keep going during hard labor, or to impress someone sexually. But once they started, they couldn’t stop.

Here’s the truth: Tramadol tricks your brain. It gives you a rush at first but over time, it destroys your body’s natural ability to feel good. It affects your emotions, damages your ability to function sexually, and eventually changes how your brain works.

Side Effects of Prolonged Tramadol Use Include:

  • Severe sexual dysfunction (loss of libido, erectile issues)
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Chronic fatigue and mental fog
  • Insomnia and poor sleep quality
  • Physical dependence and painful withdrawal symptoms
  • Seizures
  • Liver and kidney damage
  • Risk of overdose when mixed with alcohol or other substances

And the worst part? Many don’t realize how deep the damage goes until it’s too late.

The real danger isn’t just the drug itself. It’s how normal it’s becoming. It’s how society is starting to accept it. It’s how young people are being lied to told it’s safe, told it makes you stronger, told it helps in bed. These lies are spreading, and they’re costing us lives, futures, and dreams.

This is more than a health issue. It’s a national crisis. One that combines economic hardship, peer pressure, and misinformation. It’s eating away at the future of our young people, and doing so quietly one pill, one drink, one lie at a time.

We must act now. Not just with arrests, but with real education, support, and awareness. The myth that Tramadol is harmless needs to end. Because behind the illusion of pleasure is a very real danger one that is already stealing too many lives.

Ghana’s future is too important to lose to a lie.
